It's all about the coat.

So I thought I’d kick my blog off with a piece on fashion (my favourite topic).
The question is what’s the most important item of clothing in your winter wardrobe?
A good pair of jeans perhaps? Or a sturdy pair of boots? Personally, I think it’s all about the coat. The coat essentially makes your outfit because let’s face it, you’re gonna be wearing it a lot. With such a wide range to choose from it’s an important decision!  Here’s a few of my favourites:

To start things off, there’s the floor length. These can always be quite difficult to pull off and are better suited for someone with an outgoing personality.  Floor length coats were particularly popular in this falls fashion week, particularly among designers such as Rodarte (pictured below)

However as elegant as they look, not all of us have thousands of pounds lying around. Therefore there’s always the high street version, for instance this pretty impressive suede number by Topshop for £200. Although it may seem a lot full length coats are always gonna be pricey, but their also a great investment.

Next is the always popular faux fur coat. These always look great whatever your wearing, and on the plus side their seriously snug! These coats originally became popular in the Victorian era, and throughout the 20th century were worn
by upper class citizens to posh events. Now however, their available to everyone and the great thing is they don’t have to be real fur. I would choose faux fur any day; although I have to admit I do have a real mink coat sitting in my wardrobe which belonged to my great grandmother (picture below). However I’ve never actually been able to bring myself to wear it.
Now, one of the best places to buy fur coats is probably my second home, Topshop.  I love the coloured fur coats, especially in bold colours such as red.  Although I seriously love the animal print ones. Dalmatian print is very in this year, but I’m still a fan of the good old leopard print.

Last, but definitely not least is my favourite coat of all time. The Trench coat. They. Are. Beautiful! They never fail to make anyone look sleek and elegant. Seriously, everyone should own one! Burberry is of course renowned for the trench coat, and my favourite one of theirs is one worn below by Emma Watson, with the contrasting leather sleeves. Now if you have £2795 on you, then it’s yours! If you’re like me however, and prefer something a tad cheaper than the Asos replica is equally as good, especially at only £80.
